Tension between Israel and Palestine has been mounting for thousands
of years. The land called Judea was the Jew’s home until they were
conquered by the Romans who renamed their land Palestine. The Zionist
movement began in an attempt by the Jews to regain their land. In recent
history, over the past hundred years, there had been an excess of problems
in the Middle East. Palestine was given to Great Britain by the League of
Nations to use as a domain for Jews. Arabs rioted when Jews were sent to
Palestine. This halted the immigration. After the Holocaust, there was a
pressure for Britain to let Jews migrate there. Arabs did not like this
gesture and started a war. Arabs refused to recognize Israel and vice-
versa. Democrats and republicans in America each have their own views on
the conflict and potential solutions.

Americans debate what should be done about this problem. The majority
agree that something should be done about the land disputes. Democrats are
looking not to choose a side but to bring peace to the Middle East and
create compromise. Republicans, say that Obama should support Israel. A
proposal is to separate the two states and have two separate capitals: one
for Israelis and one for Palestinians. Democrats support this option while
republicans want the land to remain as Israel. The reason that republicans
support Israel is that they feel that the United States shares the same
interests while democrats disagree. They believe that we, as a country, are
weakened by Israel while republicans think we can benefit from a connection
to them. The majority; however, believe that both Israel and Palestine is
important to the United States. The war in Gaza is also an important
aspect in the debate. There have been countless acts of violence in the
fight for each holy land. Democrats say that they became less supportive
of Israel because of the violence while republicans became more supportive.

Despite their differences on what should be done, they both are in
support of Jews living in Israel. Democrats are looking for peace between
the two groups and would like to see the two states divided. Republicans
are a little more extreme and want Jews to take over Israel from Palestine.
However we deal with it, the United States is working with the two groups
to quell the conflicts and acts of violence between these two factions.
